I started playing guitar when I was just a youngster. I picked up. banjo not long after, inspired by the high lonesome sounds of the Stanley Brothers and when I heard Jerry Garcia playing banjo on a recording of Old and in the Way. I have played everything from punk rock to bluegrass to jazz and blues and everything in between. I started playing banjo for fun because I have loved the banjo since the first time I heard one. I was blessed to soak up a lot of authentic bluegrass sounds while growing up in the Maryland hills and I am always happy to share my love of the banjo whenever possible. I try to stay true to my roots but am always looking for ways the banjo can evolve to be a part of new types of music. I am currently studying Music Education at Denver Metro University in Denver, CO and am looking for opportunities to teach and play wherever I can.
I love to teach others to play banjo and am always looking for opportunities to share the unique sounds of banjo with the world. Reach out for any and all of your banjo needs.
Whether you are looking to start playing banjo for the first time, trying to add some new skills to your banjo playing or are just looking for a banjo player to add to your project I am happy to help.
Here are a couple different examples of my playing to check out.
Me playing banjo with a band I used to play with called Bat’s Dynamic Strings Band. This song is called “The Fence” and it was written by CJ Oswald, AKA Bat.
Here is another one with Bat’s Dynamic Strings Band. This one is called “Teach Them” and was also written by CJ Oswald, AKA Bat.
This one is a also on my home page. Just a mellow day and I decided to pick a little bit doing a version of “You Ain’t Goin Nowhere” by Bob Dylan.
